Two identical cases, two decisions
That does not happen out of negligence. It happens because the rules live in people's heads and in leaflets instead of in one place. The decision engine holds them together — as a process a specialist can read, change and check without booking a developer for it.
In service — the core of every other product. What the decision engine does
Processes are described, not programmed. A specialist reads the rule and recognises their own directive in it.
Four outcomes instead of yes and no: autonomous, query, release required, watch. The maturity level of a process determines how much it may do on its own.
Medicine and insurance never decide autonomously. That is written into the rules, not into a statement of intent.

How a decision is made
A case arrives, the rules take effect, one of four outcomes lights up. Watch how the outcome changes with the case.
Regeln werden angewendet …
- Case arrives — from a document, an e-mail or a specialist system
- Process selected — by type and department
- Rules applied — thresholds, deadlines, responsibilities
- Outcome determined — autonomous, query, release required, watch
- Stop at a person — wherever the maturity level demands it (decided by a person)
- Reasoning filed — which rule, which value, which reason
No case disappears. "Watch" is a decision too — it is logged and presented again when the related transaction arrives.
In practice
Three industries, Three outcomes
The same engine, three rules. Once it decides, twice it explicitly does not — and gives reasons for both.
The threshold is written in a leaflet. Those who know it stick to it. Those who are new call upstairs — or do not.
